I Never Knew That

By Joe Templin · September 9, 2026 · 1 min read

“Education is learning what you didn’t even know you didn’t know.” -Daniel J Boorstin

Unconscious incompetence is not even knowing what you don’t know, like a white belt walking into a martial arts facility for the first time and seeing techniques that are incomprehensible because they lack a framework and reference comparisons.

We see this in financial services, over and over again, when a client says “I never knew that!”

If you can get someone to say this, you have educated them and added value. That bit of information could be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to that person. Don’t you deserve to be paid for the wisdom you have shared, via Introductions to others that don’t know that either?
