Recharge to Stay Relentless

By Joe Templin · June 11, 2026 · 1 min read

“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes… Including you.” Anne Lamott

Work your butt off then recharge.

I work 70+ hours a week, then unplug for a day and work in the garden or mow my lawn and read and
spend time with my family so I can sustainably push myself harder than basically anyone I know.

Somedays during the workweek I’m beat. Maybe I had done three 15-hour days in a row, or didn’t sleep
well for some reason the night before, or I’m recovering from an injury or a business trip. It happens.

And when that happens, I’ll sneak out to my vehicle and grab a 20-minute power nap in the early
afternoon to partially refill my mental and emotional and physical tank. I literally unplug for a bit of time
and then plug back into finish the week strong instead of fading at the end.

Turn yourself off for a bit
and you’ll actually achieve more thanks to the restart.
