Stop Saving Yourself

By Joe Templin · August 26, 2026 · 1 min read

“Never save a pitcher for tomorrow. Tomorrow it may rain.” -Leo Durocher

Do not hold anything back, because chances are you won’t get a second chance to use those reserves with a client.

Give your all every meeting, because if you don’t get that client to have another meeting with you the saved pitches won’t be used and are a wasting asset that is now gone.

Give your best every time, because it could be the ONLY time that you have to influence this other person to move in the right direction.

The pitching coach for the ’90’s Yankees dynasty Mel Stottlemyer always said “empty the tank” to his relief pitchers. Hold nothing back because if you do you might give up the run that ends the game or season.

Stop holding back and let your best fastball fly every time.
