The Sweetest Cider

By Joe Templin · October 7, 2026 · 1 min read

The tarter the apple, the tastier the cider.

— Beverly Lewis

One client I worked with was skeptical, difficult to get to open up, demanding on every single thing suggested. Triple checked any statement, pushed back on projections, and was a pain in the butt about giving Introductions until we proved our worth.

And then came the sweet fruits of all that labor. A dozen plus great Introductions for three meetings in a row, a large chunk of business, and a friendship where he texts pictures from his vacations and only asks clarifying questions, not cantankerous ones.

The hardest victories are the most celebrated.

The wall to keep others out protects the greatest treasures.

Through empathy and understanding you can earn the trust and respect needed to build the relationship and receive the rewards. Be willing to be patient and do the work to earn the opportunity, and oh how sweet it tastes!
