“Practice is everything.” -Pele
My cello instructor was still practicing well into his 80’s because he wanted to maintain his performance edge, 70+ years after starting to play.
I know Hall of Fame Speakers that review and repeat their speeches religiously so that they can try and get just a bit better.
Practice helps create confidence, which is one of the reasons that so many professionals insist upon practicing before performing to get the jitters out and to lock in. It is the difference between the greats and the could have beens, because raw talent must be honed through repeated focused effort to sharpen the blade into skill and certainty of the edge. And this only comes through practice, mindnumbing practice to exceed our physical and mental limitations to the point where we imbed the knowledge and ability into our very soul.
